Wisdom teeth are the third molars in your mouth. Commonly, there is insufficient space for these teeth to erupt fully. They become impacted and can cause irritation, pressure, jaw and gum pain and other complications like infection and swelling. If unresolved, they can also increase the risk of decay and gum issues, on the tooth itself and also healthy neighbouring teeth (the second molar).
Our dentists will take do an assessment and X-rays to decide if the wisdom teeth needs to be removed. Often, this can be performed in the chair under Local Anaesthetic but there is also the option of removing wisdom teeth under General Anaesthetic if there were multiple wisdom teeth to be removed.
