When should my child first see the dentist?
We recommend that parents bring children around 2 years of age to have their first dental visit. If you notice anything you think is out of the ordinary before this time, you should book an appointment straightaway. It is better to be safe than sorry! Our dentists may discuss topics such as teething, brushing techniques, bite (how your child’s teeth will come together), soft tissues (gums and cheeks), habits such as thumb sucking, risk of decay and how to prevent it, prevention of trauma to your child’s mouth and nutritional advice. A positive experience for the little ones at an early age is essential for future regular maintenance dental visits and good dental health that will last a lifetime. It is a new experience for the little ones and our team goes the extra mile to ensure they are safe and comfortable. It usually may start with a ride in the chair and having their teeth counted.
